How To Clean Gardening Tools And Water The Plants

For gardening, a lot of people use products and tools that make the whole process easier. Due to the use of gardening products, people do not need to put too much effort and time; both get saved. However, gardening tools also need care if you want them to last for a long time. Tools are used for different plants in the garden. How to do daily maintenance of gardening tools?

• To remove the dirt from the digging tools, use putty knives as due to the use of these, it becomes easy to remove caked-on dirt.

• Use nail brushes for loppers and shears. 

• Always use a towel to dry your tools.

Well, removing sap or dirt is quite easy as compared to removing rust. It is a bit hard to remove rust. However, by taking the following steps, this can be done. 

• In a bowl, take vinegar and water in equal proportion. Keep it overnight.

• Then, the next day, use steel wool to scrub the tools with that mixture.

• After scrubbing, wash the tools with soapy water and then with plain water. 

• Let it dry, and when it is dry, use linseed oil or any mineral oil. 

The nuts of the tools also need to be cleaned properly to ensure that they work for a long time. 

• Firstly, all the nuts need to be removed and washed thoroughly. 

• Take a bowl, put vinegar and water in it, and keep it for a night.

• Use steel wool to scrub those nuts if they rust. 

• Then, apply linseed oil to the nuts.

The handles of the tools also need to be cleaned like always cleaning the handles with slightly wet cloth after use. If you see any crack or other issue, solve it immediately. 

How to water your plants?

• Before watering your plants, always check the soil first. You can do it with your fingers also. Water the plants only then when they are dry. 

• Always water your plants in the morning as if you water your plants in morning, plants get enough time to absorb water. Avoid watering the plants in the afternoon as water will evaporate too quickly due to heat. 

• Never water leaves, vegetables or fruits. Always water directly to the soil by maintaining a distance. 

• Keep your plants in a place where the wind does not blow that much, as plants get dry quickly due to the wind.  

• You need to keep one thing in mind that if you have planted your plants in a container rather than ground, you need to water container plants more frequently. 

• Always apply mulch as moisture is retained.  

• If your leaves are turning brown or yellow in colour, this indicates that you are watering your plants too much. Therefore, before watering, check the leaves of your plant. . 

• Always water your plants slowly. Never do watering quickly, as it is not beneficial. 

• Watering the plants does not mean that you need to water the plants multiple times throughout the day, you need to water them when they are dry. 

• Pots which are not treated with chemicals like the unglazed ones are the best for plants. Avoid using pots treated with chemical or plastic ones.
